I am a painter. I enjoy painting and looking at paintings tremendously. Speaking and reading the visual language is like an unlimited playground of exploration and satisfaction to me. Sharing is another dimension of painting that I cherish. I paint from close observation, whether it is landscape, flowers or live models. I love to use vibrant colors, sometimes saturated, sometimes more tonal. I am particularly drawn to subtle shifts of hue within my own palette of colors. I invite brand new hues into my palette only one at a time, and extremely progressively, only after I explored the many possibilities of variations that the previous set of colors could offer me. I like to mix the use of knife for generous color application and sharp edges, and brushes for more translucid areas or to define the overall structure of the painting (its "bones"). My brushstrokes can be quite fast and energetic, that’s why I particularly like “premier coup” painting. This translates into a global movement (spiral, or across) and energy that are at the core of my paintings. The level of object identity in my paintings is intermediate between representation and abstraction. In my painting series, I usually start with the former, and then evolves to the latter, before I settle somewhere in the middle.
